Whether you should consider lining up to order the XBOX Ally X20 depends on how much you value the larger 7.4-inch display, which finally adopts OLED for more vibrant colors and inkier blacks, the TMR magnetic thumbsticks that should (in theory) be immune to the threat of dreaded stick drift, and the upgraded D-Pad that can switch between 4-way and 8-way modes.You even still get the same 24GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage as the base XBOX Ally X, which is a miss from ASUS.An extra 8GB of memory and another 1TB of storage would've been a great upgrade, and would go a long way toward justifying the added cost.

There's no denying that the X20 is the XBOX handheld, though, and I admit I'm extremely interested in it myself.I'm at least glad ASUS has confirmed a standalone version, as I can't imagine many people justifying shelling out an $1,200 for AR glasses, a dock, and two cases.Don't get me wrong, the ASUS ROG XREAL R1 glasses are seriously impressive in the augmented reality space, with a 171-inch virtual screen reaching up to 240Hz with a 0.1ms response time—competitive specs for any gaming-focused display.
Add electrochromic lens, native 3DoF (Degrees-of-Freedom) spatial tracking, included ROG docking station, and stereo audio tuned by Bose, and these are among the most impressive AR glasses on the planet ...but they're also slated to go on sale for a whopping $850.As for the remaining $350 of add-ons, you get a dbrand Killswitch case and a custom Pelican hard case with the XBOX Ally X20 bundle.
