Some new images shared on social media yesterday compare iPhone 17 Air dummy models to its direct predecessor, the iPhone 16 Plus – revealing how much thinner this new iPhone will be.In just a few months, Apple will be discontinuing the ‘Plus’ iPhone from its lineup, and ushering in an all new, ultra-thin ‘Air’ model. This model ditches the dual camera, a second speaker, and sacrifices in battery – but will be remarkably thin and light, coming in in at just 5.5mm thin and 145g in weight.
It’ll also pack a 6.6-inch OLED display with ProMotion. It’s rumored that the iPhone 17 Air will retain roughly the same starting price as the iPhone 16 Plus, placing it around $899.Initial rumors suggested that the iPhone 17 Air would sit at the top of the iPhone lineup, potentially going as high as $1299.
Apple’s suppliers are currently unsure about demand levels of iPhone 17 Air, and its reported to only be taking up around 10% of production capacity. This is Apple’s third major swing at making a fourth iPhone fit in the lineup.I’m personally looking forward to the iPhone 17 Air.
Demand may be rocky, but it’ll set the stage for future iPhone models, including foldables. It’ll also be nice to have something fresh in the lineup. What do you think about the iPhone 17 Air? Will you be purchasing? Let us know in the comments.
