Google's Pixel A-series has been a great choice for anyone wanting an affordable Android phone that doesn't compromise on camera performance or software support.The Pixel 10a has now arrived, and it carries on that tradition with a few helpful enhancements.Following last week's teaser video, Google has now fully revealed the Pixel 10a and opened up pre-orders.
The hardware design has remained mostly the same, with a similar square design language as the Galaxy S25, recent iPhone models, and Google's flagship Pixel phones.However, the camera is now flush with the back of the phone, so typing on a flat surface won't cause the whole phone to wobble around.The Pixel 10a's screen is a 6.3-inch 1080 x 2424 pOLED panel, with refresh rates at up to 120Hz, just like last year's Pixel 9a.
However, it's now using Gorilla Glass 7i instead of Gorilla Glass 3, which should improve scratch and drop resistance.The maximum brightness is also 11% brighter than the Pixel 9a, at up to 2,000 nits in HDR and 3,000 nits in normal operation.For taking pictures and video, there's a 48MP main camera and a 13MP ultrawide lens.
The same software features from the Pixel 9a have returned, including Astrophotography mode, Magic Eraser, Best Take, and Portrait Light.This is the first Pixel A phone with Auto Best Take, which analyzes multiple frames from a burst capture to find the best shot, and Camera Coach, which uses Gemini to help you improve lighting and image composition.This is also the first Pixel A-series phone with Satellite SOS, so you can contact emergency services over a satellite connection when you are outside cell tower range.
Google's implementation still doesn't have the non-emergency location sharing or texting features of Apple's satellite texting mode, but it's still a great addition.The rest of the internal hardware hasn't changed much.It still has a Tensor G4 chip like the Pixel 9a, and not the latest G5 chip found in the Pixel 10.
You can pick from 128 or 256GB internal storage, and both versions have 8GB RAM—the same as last year's model.Finally, the Pixel 10 comes with seven years of Android OS updates, security patches, and Pixel Drops with new features.This is a phone that won't go out of date or become a security risk anytime soon, and it's starting on Android 16.
The Google Pixel 10a will start at $499, with pre-orders starting today and the release date set for March 5, 2026.That's the same price as last year's phone, which is an impressive feat while so many other tech products are skyrocketing in cost.You still get great hardware, good cameras, long software support, a price tag several hundred dollars less than the Galaxy S25 or iPhone 17.
