Leaker says iPhone 17 lineup getting two new screen changes - 9to5Mac

Two months from now, Apple is expected to unveil its new flagship iPhone lineup, including iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max.And today, a leaker has shared two screen changes that may be coming to various new models.Slim bezels and updated Dynamic Island may be coming to iPhone 17 line Today in a new post on Weibo, leaker Digital Chat Station has shared a variety of expectations for the upcoming iPhone 17 line.

Many of the details have been reported before, but there are two interesting new details that stand out most—both relating to iPhone 17 screens.Per the post: All iPhone 17 models will have thin bezels, not just the Pro models like last year and there’s a new Dynamic Island UI coming The first of these is understandable.Last year Apple gave its Pro models brand new display sizes, and along with them reduced the bezels more than ever.

This year, the base iPhone 17 is getting the same, larger 6.3-inch display that debuted in the iPhone 16 Pro last year.So it makes sense that the new display would enable similarly reduced bezels. And the iPhone 17 Air is a brand new flagship model, with a unique screen size, so including thinner bezels also makes sense for it.

Where Digital Chat Station’s post is especially confusing, though, is regarding the Dynamic Island rumor.iPhone 17 screen’s updated hardware might bring software changes, but it seems unclear For starters, the leaker’s track record shows expertise in hardware, not software features. The term UI, however, seems to reference software.

Earlier this year, DCS did claim that a reduced Dynamic Island was coming—at least for iPhone 17 Pro Max.Perhaps there is hardware evidence of a changed Dynamic Island, and DCS assumes software changes will match the new hardware.Adding further complication, though, is that the post seems to indicate all iPhone 17 models will be included in this change, which has never been reported before.

All that to say, while the bezel rumor seems highly likely to prove true, there’s still a lot of uncertainty around Dynamic Island changes. What do you think of these new rumors about the iPhone 17 line?
