The Spark Computer Graphics Society (SPARK CG) has announced the full 2025 SPARK ANIMATION Festival and Conference program in Vancouver.The festival runs September 18-21; the conference, which will open with a talk by Brad Bird (, ), runs September 20-21.
Highlights include a conversation with Bird, who will share insights from his animation and live-action career.Presentations include the making of , Pixar Animation’s , the upcoming adaptation of Roald Dahl’s , and .This year’s festival opens with the Western Canadian Premiere of Kid Koala’s feature debut, .
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director.On September 19, SPARK will host an encore screening of followed by the North American premiere of .The festival will close with the North American premiere of Kenji Iwaisawa’s , based on the manga by Uoto.
The short film line-up features projects from established and up-and-coming talents, including new projects from legendary animator Aaron Blaise (); Jean-Philippe Vine’s from Locksmith Animation; Andy Martin & Alex Bain’s ; and Cartoon Saloon’s directed by Giovanna Ferrari.“As a festival, SPARK ANIMATION has always been dedicated to celebrating unique visions and bold voices in animation,” said Marina Antunes, Festival Director.“From intimate, personal stories to spectacular international showcases, this year's lineup reflects the creativity and diversity that make animation one of the most exciting art forms today.” Tickets for in-person programming are now available.
