Recently, Apple begun stocking its latest Apple Pencil Pro on its certified refurbished store – allowing customers to pick up a like-new Apple Pencil Pro for their compatible iPad model at a lower price.Apple Pencil Pro has been on the market for well over a year now.For the first time, customers can now buy an Apple certified refurbished model for $109 – nearly 20% off from its typical $129 MSRP.
Apple Pencil Pro is compatible with Apple’s most recent iPad models, excluding iPad (A16).If you have an iPad mini 7, iPad Pro M4, or iPad Air M2/M3, this is the Apple Pencil for you.It includes new features like squeeze functionality, barrel roll, and haptic feedback.
If you have an iPad 10 or A16 model, you’ll need an Apple Pencil USB-C.However, as is sometimes the case with Apple refurbished releases – it isn’t always the best deal compared to third party retailers. For example, Amazon is currently offering the Apple Pencil Pro for $110, just a dollar more than Apple’s refurbished offering.
That’ll also ship immediately, versus having to wait 3-5 days to get it from Apple. That’s not to say Apple certified refurbished is bad. You’re generally getting a product thats indistinguishable from new, other than missing out on the normal packaging.
When it comes to Apple Pencil Pro, though – going new seems like the smarter option.Especially with the cool boxes that the Apple Pencil Pro ships with.I recently did a deep dive on whether or not Apple refurbished is a good value all of the time.
