Autodesk Launches Droid Design Contest with Disney and Lucasfilm

To celebrate Star Wars Day, the tech leader has announced its May the Fourth campaign, a month-long contest for superfans to design their own droid using Maya, 3ds Max, or Fusion.
Global technology and software leader Autodesk has teamed up with Disney and Lucasfilm for the first time to launch its May the Fourth campaign, a month-long contest for people, ages 18 and up, to design their own droid using Autodesk software: Maya, 3ds Max or Fusion.The contest celebrates the designers and makers of – as well as fan-enthusiasts – while recognizing the franchise’s longstanding collaboration with Autodesk.

Starting today, May 4th, Star Wars Day, fans can go to autodesk.com/droid to submit their own designs for a chance to win special prizes including: a Mechanical Grand Prize-winning droid which will be fabricated and put on display at Lucasfilm, where the winner will also get a VIP tour as well as a meet-and-greet session with a Lucasfilm executive.The winner of the Animated Grand Prize will have their droid digitally showcased at Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, get a VIP tour of the studio, and receive a 3D-printed version of their droid to keep.The contest closes on June 4 at 11:59pm ET.

Winners will be announced on June 18.Autodesk software was also used to design and make the newest, “soon-to-be-loved” Star Wars droid, who will be introduced to fans in the highly anticipated series, , streaming June 4 on Disney+.  Visit the contest landing page for more information to submit an entry today!
