Switchbot Air Purifier Table - Scargill's Tech Blog

What we have here is a large air purifier (the little AliExpress-type air purifiers I’ve seen/used are fairly useless by comparison) – with the added bonus of serving as a base for a nice wooden top which wirelessly charges suitably-equipped phones – I LIKE this new SMART Air Purifier from Switchbot. An adjustable or automatic soft-glow light appears under the table-top – and also illuminates the various controls – fan speed, timers and more.Of course all of this can be done from the Switchbot APP and hopefully soon via MATTER and importantly for me, Home Assistant.

At the time of writing the latter offers basic support – see below: Starting at the beginning – this hefty box on the left arrived a couple oif weeks ago but the company sake that erviwes be held back until June 1 – it’s my 40th wedding anniversary (delayed) on 1st so it’s coming out today – June 30, 2025.The arrival of the unit came just in time for the hayfever season to go full swing in Southern Spain. The next photo shows you exactly what you get in the box, including a screwdriver and screws (2 required, 4 provided) to fix the table-top onto the base.

You get the pre-assembled air purifier, the top, a mains plug-in-the-wall power supply, instructions in various languages and a host of regulatory information.Once I’d had a quick look at the instructions, the unit was easy to put together and worked first time.Operation is simple – light colour control – fan speed up and down, timer.

But of course that’s just manual operation.By pairing the product with the Switchbot APP you get WiFi control from anywhere and a lot more.My next step would be to set up the unit for Matter and to integrate it into my Home Assistant setup but as this was a very early version, I could not get the Matter integration to work – but as you see the Home Assistant Switchbot integration has given me a control and a sensor.

Meanwhile, some photos – this certainly is a nice-looking piece of smart furniture – the top can be used for support books or plants etc and there is a section on the right for wirelessly charging phones.I’ve never been a great fan of wireless charging as it is slow compared to PD charging – but it you’re in the house anyway – maybe at the PC – why not put the phone on the table… The unit is well suited to our spare corner below the stairs and can be sited quite near to a rear wall.In a nutshell – a large air purifier with the added bonus of serving as a base for the optional nice wooden top which wirelessly charges suitably-equipped phones – see my S22 Ultra sitting charging in the photo above.

I like it.Adjustable or automatic soft-glow light appears under the table-top – and also illuminates the various controls – fan speed, timers and more.Of course all of this can be done from the Switchbot APP and hopefully soon via MATTER and importantly for me, Home Assistant.

Here is the purifier entry as it appears in the Switchbot APP.That’s it – it just works. As Matter and Home Assistant integration progresses (this device is VERY new at the time of writing) I’ll expand the article.
