X-Men 97 Renewed for Season 3, Sets Season 2 Release Window

Marvel’s New York Comic Con panel added to its bevy of Disney+ show reveals when Marvel Television and Marvel Animation head Brad Winderbaum was joined by Eric and Julia Lewald, the original ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ creators, to share footage and news from the hit show’s upcoming season.
Marvel Television and Marvel Animation head Brad Winderbaum, along with Eric and Julia Lewald, the writers who originally created , took to the New York Comic Con stage to share some important news from the world of the hit Marvel animated series, .First off, the show’s second season has been set for a Summer 2026 release on Disney+.

In addition, Winderbaum announced that the Lewalds, along with original series director Larry Houston, have joined Season 2 as Executive Producers.They talked about what fans can expect from the upcoming season, before sharing some Season 2 footage.And… news was also shared that the show has been picked up for a Season 3.

Last year, AWN reported Matthew Chauncey () had been tapped to pen the third season of , though nothing was confirmed by Marvel at the time.Now we know Season 3 is a go.The animated series lost writer/producer Beau DeMayo in 2024, when the creative was mysteriously axed just weeks ahead of the show’s Season 1 premiere.

DeMayo had already completed scripts for Season 2 and was discussing Season 3 plots.takes audiences back to the iconic era of the 1990s as The X-Men, a band of mutants who use their uncanny gifts to protect a world that hates and fears them, are challenged like never before, forced to face a dangerous and an unexpected new future. It picked up on storylines from the 1990s .
