Apple might announce less than usual next week, but for a good reason - 9to5Mac

Apple’s big WWDC keynote is next Monday, where it will unveil major new software updates like iOS 26, macOS 26, and more.According to one recent report, however, this year’s keynote might not be quite as jam-packed as we’re used to.Here’s why we should all expect a little less from WWDC next week.

Apple will reportedly focus on features ‘it knows for sure’ will launch this fall Mark Gurman provided an overview of what to expect from WWDC earlier this week. One detail that stood out has implications for the quantity of announcements expected. After outlining several in-the-works iOS 26 projects, Gurman writes: Last year, many of Apple’s announced software features rolled out progressively throughout the months that followed iOS 18’s launch.

In some cases, like with Siri’s big AI upgrades and Swift Assist, those features never materialized at all.Apple took a lot of flack for its lengthy Apple Intelligence rollout and Siri delays. And it sounds like this year, the plan is to avoid letting that happen again.

WWDC 2025: Resetting what to expect By “prioritizing announcing features that it knows for sure will launch in the fall”, Apple can dodge last year’s critiques and ensure it doesn’t face the embarrassment of more potential delays. That also means, however, that WWDC could bring fewer announcements overall than we’ve grown used to.Two years ago, Apple’s WWDC presentation was packed thanks to the introduction of Vision Pro alongside all the software updates.

Last year, Apple Intelligence took the spotlight alongside already-packed iOS 18 news.Apple is sure to spend lots of time this year hyping users for the big redesigns coming to iOS 26 and more. And maybe the new ‘HomePad’ will make a surprise appearance.

But otherwise, it sounds like we may need to set our expectations for a slightly less jam-packed WWDC next week.Do you expect Apple will have fewer WWDC announcements this year? Why or why not?
