Honda says the coating can fail in spots, leaving bare steel exposed to road salt and freeze-thaw cycles.Once corrosion sets in at the rear control arm mounting points, the metal thins until it can fracture, which Honda warns can cause a loss of vehicle handling.Only an estimated one percent of the 880,514 vehicles covered have the defect, but inspection is the only way to know which ones.
