Cartoon Network, HBO Max Set Iyanu: The Age of Wonders Premiere Date

Cartoon Network, HBO Max, and Lion Forge Entertainment revealed the next evolution of during their panel at last month’s San Diego Comic-Con.Building on the show’s first-season success across Cartoon Network and HBO Max, the partners announced that , the first in a pair of upcoming animated feature films, will premiere August 30.

Fans also got a first look at the official teaser trailer, poster, and never-before-seen stills (shown below) from Season 2.Currently in production with a planned 2026 release, the new season finds Iyanu facing a powerful new enemy as tensions rise across Yorubaland.In which is set 500 years before the rise of Iyanu, Dara and Ishe must stop the coming Age of Darkness.

Their only hope lies with the Divine Ones, legendary beings who once walked the earth and upheld the balance between light and shadow.The film stars an all-African voice cast, including Shaffy Bello, Babajide Oyekunle, Ike Ononye, Sisan Victor-Woko, Serah Johnson, Okey Jude, Samuel Kugbiyi, and Adesua Etomi-Wellington.Check out the  teaser trailer now: It’s co-written by Brandon Easton and Roye Okupe, who also directs and serves as the franchise’s creator and showrunner.

The series executive producers include David Steward II, Stephanie Sperber, Kirsten Newlands, and Matt Heath from Lion Forge Entertainment; Erica Dupuis of Impact X Capital; Ryan Haidarian of Forefront Media Group; Doug Schwalbe of Superprod; and Okupe.The series and films are based on by Okupe, published by YouNeek Studios and Dark Horse Comics.
