Framework has unveiled its latest wave of modular laptops and accessories, and the highlight is the addition of a long-awaited feature: a touchscreen.The newly introduced Laptop 13 Pro is billed as a "ground up redesign" whose centerpiece is a custom 2,880x1,920, matte finish display with touch support.The 13.5-inch panel offers dynamic refresh rates between 30Hz and 120Hz, 700-nit brightness, and an 1,800:1 contrast ratio.
You won't have to give up Framework's highly customizable and repairable design just to touch on-screen elements, play games at high frame rates, or use your system outside.The Laptop 13 Pro also promises major strides forward in battery life.A full aluminum chassis (with room for a larger 74Wh battery), new LPCAMM2 memory modules, and the use of Intel's more efficient Core Ultra Series 3 has more than doubled battery life from 12 to 20-plus hours.
It should "slightly" outlast Apple's 14-inch MacBook Pro M5, Framework claims.Models with AMD's Ryzen AI 300 chips are also available.Other improvements include the Laptop 13 line's first haptic touchpad (again compared to the MacBook Pro), clearer speakers with Dolby Atmos audio, and support for faster PCIe 5.0-based SSDs.
