The main things missing are a backlit keyboard and an M-series chip, with the Neo running on Apple’s A18 Pro, the same processor found in the iPhone 16 Pro.Available in the vibrant citrus, indigo, blush or silver colours that are very unlike the austere tones of the MacBook Air and pricier Pro, the Neo has immediately become the go-to MacBook choice for most people. If Mac buyers want to browse the web, send emails, use word processing tools, do some light photo editing and log in to all their streaming services, the MacBook Neo more than fits the bill.MacBook Neo £599 £549 View DealThe all-new MacBook Neo comes with big features for just £599 - now down to £549.It's powered by the A18 Pro chip and gets a premium design, 13-inch screen and long battery life.

Read our Privacy PolicyApple rates the Neo’s battery life at 16 hours on a single charge, more than enough for even the most creative of workers to get by for a day without needing to plug in.Annoyingly, the Neo comes with no charging brick in the box, only a USB-C cable, so buyers will have to pick one up in addition if they don’t already have a MacBook charger. But anyone in the market for a new laptop should probably have the MacBook Neo near the top of their shopping list, given its price.£549 for such a capable machine with long battery life gives serious competition to the Windows 11 PCs in this price point, many of which could lack the polish of the Neo.Reviewing the laptop on its release earlier this year, Express technology editor Dave Snelling gave the Neo four-and-a-half stars out of five, only knocking it for the lack of a charger in the box and the lack of power for professional users.“Despite a few missing features, the Neo has really impressed me,” he said.

“It’s fun, fast and fabulous to use.“It’s leaps ahead of all of its cheap rivals and finally means owning a budget PC doesn’t mean having to put up with a dismal screen, dire keyboard and uninspiring design.”Unlike with its Prime Day deals, Amazon does not state on the listing page for the MacBook Neo when the deal ends, so anyone who wants to take advantage of the excellent £549 price might want to do so quickly. It's not the only Apple deal around, Laptops Direct is selling the 15.3-inch MacBook Air for £649.97 - a saving of £450 for the M2 chip device. If it really must be a Windows laptop instead of a MacBook, a rival PC in a similar price range is the Asus Zenbook A14 OLED, which is currently on offer at Amazon for £629.99 (I reviewed it here).
