4 more Netflix originals that are so good they deserve a theatrical release

One of my favorite things to do is go to the movies.Don't get me wrong—streaming is extremely convenient, and frankly, there are times I'd rather sit on my couch and watch a movie at home. However, nothing will ever replicate the cinematic experience inside a packed theater on opening night.

I'm glad Netflix is allowing its bigger tentpole movies, including and , to have legitimate theatrical releases. However, I now want Netflix to revisit some of its previous originals and reissue them in theaters in the U.S.One of those movies was directed by Martin Scorsese, an industry titan who deserves to see his older movies on the big screen.

My top selection is a sequel to one of the greatest television shows of all time.4 Remarkably Bright Creatures An Emmy-winning melodrama with heart When I see Sally Field, I automatically think about her motherly roles, including , , and .She also played mothers in the roles that earned her two Oscar wins—Best Actress for and She has the inherent warmth, toughness, and approachability to play a mother.

In , Field plays Tova Sullivan, a grieving mother who cannot overcome the loss of her son years prior. The only joy in Tova's life comes while working as a janitor at an aquarium, where she bonds with an older octopus named Marcellus (voiced by Alfred Molina). When Cameron Cassmore (Lewis Pullman) strolls into town, he gets a job at the aquarium, where he slowly forms an unlikely friendship with Tova.

The two of them eventually make a shocking discovery that changes their relationship. If you want the feeling of a warm blanket, watch It's emotional to watch Field and Pullman share their characters' trauma and seek comfort in one another. The movie became an Emmy winner for Netflix, winning Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie (Field) and the Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Movie.

I don't know about you, but I'm willing to spend some money on a lighthearted rom-com that makes me feel good.starts with a sad premise: San Francisco-based chef Jill Shaw (Zoey Deutch) is mourning the death of her sister and best friend, Isabelle (Ciara Bravo). To cope, Jill leaves voicemails on Isabelle's phone, which she believes is inactive.

Unbeknownst to her, Isabelle's phone has been reassigned to Wes (Nick Robinson), a real estate agent in Austin.Wes secretly listens to the messages and falls in love with Jill, eventually traveling to San Francisco to arrange a "meet cute." The only problem is he hasn't told Jill about the voicemails.Losing a sister to a terrible disease is a heartbreaking element, and there are some tear-jerking moments involving Jill's voicemails to Isabelle throughout the film.

Thankfully, this movie turns up the charm thanks to the undeniable chemistry between Deutch and Robinson.Deutch is a rom-com pro, and I urge everyone to check out , another great Netflix original that keeps the spirit of the rom-com alive.Voicemails for Isabelle NR Romance Comedy Release Date June 20, 2026 Where to watch Close WHERE TO WATCH Streaming Powered by Expand Collapse 2 The Irishman "I heard you paint houses." Is there a director more synonymous with gangster movies than Martin Scorsese? The Oscar-winning director has helmed some of the genre's seminal works, including , , , and my favorite, .

His kinetic approach and aggressive camera movements add layers of tension and suspense to his movies, making them perfect for a gangster epic.In 2019, didn't hit as hard because it went to Netflix after a short theatrical run.If had come out in the 1990s, it would have likely opened to No.

1 at the box office.Robert De Niro stars as Frank Sheeran, a union worker who begins working for the mob boss Russell Bufalino (Joe Pesci).Sheeran aids Bufalino's criminal activities and becomes known as a man who "paints houses," a code for murder.

During Sheeran's rise in the 1950s and 1960s, he became friends with influential Teamster Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino).Like Scorsese, De Niro, Pesci, and Pacino feel right at home in a gangster movie. They understand how to combine magnetic personas with old-school toughness to portray mobsters.

certainly features Pesci and Pacino's last great performances, and I'd argue it's De Niro's best work of the last decade. The 209-minute runtime is hard to justify for a streaming movie, which is why it needs to play in theaters again to change its reputation. The Irishman R Biography Drama Crime Release Date November 27, 2019 Where to watch Close WHERE TO WATCH Streaming Powered by Expand Collapse 1 El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie Jesse's final escape Unfortunately, has been in the news lately for tragic reasons.RJ Mitte, who played Walter White Jr., tragically died at the age of 34.

I revisited some of the scenes featuring Mitte, who is fantastic in the show. That sent me down a rabbit hole for a deeper dive on the show. This isn't a groundbreaking take, but remains one of the greatest shows of all time.

The New York Times named it the best show of the 21st century., a sequel movie and epilogue to , will never receive the praise that the flagship show garnered during its run.I do think it's much better than people give it credit for.

Themovie picks up in the immediate aftermath of the series finale, with Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) escaping the compound in Todd's El Camino.Jesse must get out of town fast, so he arranges to pay Ed Galbraith (Robert Forster) to disappear and get a new identity. Before leaving town, Jesse must settle some unfinished business.

I would have preferred another season of instead of a two-hour movie. However, beggars can't be choosers, and I'll take any excuse to watch Paul play Jesse Pinkman in a Vince Gilligan story. The flashback to Jesse's interactions with Todd (Jesse Plemons) also reminded me of Todd's ruthlessness and why he deserves a place among the show's best villains.
