Korvo and The Wall Take a Curtain Call as Solar Opposites Ends its 6 Season Run

Stars Dan Stevens, Mary Mack, and Sam Giambrone talk about the 6th and final season of Hulu’s hilarious, NSFW animated comedy that centers on 4 aliens evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome.
As 20th Television Animation’s Annie Award-nominated series takes its final curtain call with its sixth and final season, one of the show’s leading voice actors, Mary Mack, says that while she’s sad to say farewell to Hulu’s favorite alien family, she believes the crew accomplished what they set out to do since 2020: make people laugh.“I've had a lot of clinically depressed people write me on my website saying that Jessie makes them laugh, and that makes me happy to know they might need one less pill,” says Mack.

“And that is rewarding.” Co-star Sean Giambrone adds, “We’ve laughed a lot while making it.And the writers are just next level with all the stuff that they do.So, I always feel really confident because it feels like it’s in such great hands with what they're always putting out.” Known for its crazy antics, NSFW topics and high production value, centers around a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome.

Korvo (Dan Stevens) and son Yumyulack (Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism, and human frailty while Korvo’s lover Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and daughter Jesse (Mary Mack) love TV, junk food, and fun stuff. The series is executive produced by Mike McMahan, Josh Bycel and Sydney Ryan.In Season 6, now available on both Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, when the show’s resident aliens’ diamond making machine gets destroyed, they must face their greatest challenge yet: living their expensive lives on a budget! When their consumerist habits and expensive hobbies are gone, only their true selves will remain...

but will they like who they find? In addition, the epic story of the people of The Wall has all built to this thrilling and shocking conclusion.Check out the trailer: “There are some big moments this season for Yumyulack and The Wall,” teases Giambrone.“I was very excited when they popped up in the script.

There’s also closure for Yumyulack and Jesse’s school stuff and their relationship with Principal Cooke. The Dave Matthews Band episode this season was also eye opening.I'm from Chicago, and there's an event that happened there in the early 2000s that I didn't know about.

That's been cool and I'm excited about that.” Mack is most excited for fans to hear the jokes the writers cooked up, which are even sharper than usual.“The joke writing is so good this season,” says Mack.“I am really looking forward to these jokes and having the world see them.

One of my favorites is a line that Sean has after his character gets this cliche, ‘More cushion for the pushin’.’ And then Yumyulack says, ‘I’ve got to remember that when I go to the couch store.’ I'm like, that's a freaking brilliant joke for an alien who doesn't know what that means.I don't know who wrote that joke, but it's so good. It’s my favorite joke of the season.” Mack also has enjoyed the fact that is one of the few jobs that allows her to swear and says the last six seasons have been “a release.

I'm purging all my anger on this show.It feels great.” “You get to go bigger, go larger and go wilder,” says Dan Stevens, voice of Korvo, about acting on the series.“You get to make kind of crazy choices in a booth that you wouldn't necessarily envision.

And you can really contort your physicality to do things.Whenever I have to do the Red Goobler on this show, it's a very physical and emetic experience.” For Stevens, the most rewarding part of working on has been the once-in-a-lifetime chance to explore the nuances, complexities and spice involved in a same-sex romance between two aliens who are working as hard to figure out humanity as they are trying to figure out what it means to be in a committed relationship.“The chance to represent a queer extraterrestrial couple has been a great thing,” he says.

“Korvo and Terry’s love story evolving and deepening as the seasons have gone on has been a real joy.And I'm looking forward to seeing that come to a head and for viewers to get that experience as well.I've had some fans reach out and say how much they appreciate that element of the show.

And that's lovely.” Victoria Davis is a full-time, freelance journalist and part-time Otaku with an affinity for all things anime. She's reported on numerous stories from activist news to entertainment.Find more about her work at victoriadavisdepiction.com.
