Apple releases new iOS 26 beta 1 build to developers - 9to5Mac

Apple unveiled iOS 26 earlier this week alongside the first developer beta, but now it has released a revised build to beta testers for select iPhone models.iOS 26 beta 1 gets updated build just days after release In an unusual move for a major new OS version, Apple has shipped two beta versions in the very first week of release.Except the newly released software is not technically developer beta 2, but rather a revised version of iOS 26 beta 1.

The previous build of iOS 26 beta 1 was 23A5260n.This newly released build is 23A5260u—just barely different.Since the version number is nearly identical, it’s expected that there are no user-facing changes in this updated build.

More likely, Apple discovered a crucial bug or security issue—or perhaps code that leaked future products—and felt it necessary to push a new build. The new version is only available for iPhone 16 and iPhone 15 models, nothing prior to that.As a result, if you have an older iPhone model, there won’t be any new update to install.

We’ll report on any changes discovered in the new iOS 26 beta as they are revealed. If you haven’t installed the iOS 26 beta yet and are wondering whether you should or not, here are some recommendations from my colleague Ben.Have you been running iOS 26 beta 1, and if so, how has that experience been?
