This week, we got our best look yet at how impossibly thin the rumored iPhone 17 Air will feel compared to the iPhone 16 Pro.But will it still impress when used with a case? Case samples based on the dimensions of the iPhone 17 line have surfaced. While we haven’t seen the side profile of an iPhone 17 Air dummy unit inside one of these cases, the idea does add a new dimension to the appeal of the ultra-thin phone.
Maybe the iPhone 17 Air in a standard protective case will feel similar to an iPhone 16 Pro with no case at all.If so, that’s a decent gain.A thinner model will also be lighter, although the larger display on the iPhone 17 Air compared to the standard iPhone 17 model will offset some of the weight differences.
For the few who bravely roll with no iPhone case at all, the iPhone 17 Air will be best experienced in your hands. If the case offsets the reduction in thickness, though, the tradeoffs for going ultra-thin may be lost. We’ll know for sure this fall when Apple unveils the iPhone 17 lineup.
