Despite the fact that the iPhone Fold display is being made by Samsung, it looks like it might be more advanced that the one so far used in the Korean company’s own Galaxy Z Fold series.A leaker with a decent track record cites supply-chain sources as saying the upcoming Apple device will use a thinner and more advanced display than used in any of Samsung’s own products … Advanced display for iPhone Fold Apple’s usual approach with new technology is to watch and wait for a while, aiming to be best rather than first. The company usually only utilizes new tech once it’s satisfied with the quality.
That’s reportedly the reason the company hasn’t launched before now: it was unhappy with the very visible crease you get in most folding screens. That was a problem it asked its display partners to solve, and Samsung was reported to have done this to Apple’s satisfaction back in February.Leaker yeux1122 said that Apple also wanted to slim down the display for a more compact fold, and that Samsung has now achieved this too.
One doubt remains The report says the display is thinner than anything seen in any Galaxy Fold device, but a report yesterday said that the upcoming 7th-gen model will be the thinnest foldable in the world. So it’s possible that this new model will use the same display tech we can expect to see in Apple’s foldable iPhone. However, yeux1122 does say that Apple is applying for new branding trademarks for the new tech.
This indicate it’s more advanced than even the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7, though Apple does of course use marketing trademarks like Retina, Liquid Retina, Super Retina, Super Retina XDR, Ultra Retina XDR, ProMotion, none of which refer to unique technology types.Either way, Apple seems happy that the iPhone Fold will have a suitably slim form-factor.
