Digital, Blu-ray Release Dates Announced for The Boy and the Heron

Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning animated feature will be available to rent and purchase digitally in 4K Ultra HD on Prime Video and Apple TV starting June 25, while physical copies to hit stores July 9.
Hayao Miyazaki’s Academy Award-winning animated feature will soon be available to rent and purchase digitally in 4K Ultra HD on Prime Video and Apple TV starting June 25. A limited edition Steelbook will be released alongside standard 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray/DVD editions on July 9.All releases of the film will include both the original Japanese version with English subtitles, as well as the English-language version.

The English voice cast includes Robert Pattinson, Florence Pugh, Willem Dafoe, Luca Padovan, Christian Bale, Dave Bautista, Gemma Chan, Willem Dafoe, Karen Fukuhara, Mark Hamill, and others.An original story,  is set in World War II and follows Mahito, a boy grieving for his deceased mother while his father remarries his mother’s sister.When he ventures into a world shared by the living and the dead, death comes to an end, and life finds a new beginning.

The instant classic is directed by Miyazaki and produced by Oscar-winning Studio Ghibli co-founder Toshio Suzuki.It features a musical score from Miyazaki’s long-time collaborator Joe Hisaishi.For those interested in streaming the film, viewers in the U.S.
