Samsung says the device uses its “most advanced hinges yet” in a foldable with a more stable fold action and a smaller gap when folded.“When Galaxy Z TriFold opens, the screen performs similarly to three 6.5-inch smartphones across the 10-inch display, giving users more room to multitask during their day,” Samsung said in a press release.“Users can use the screen with endless versatility — they can create across three different portrait-sized apps side-by-side without interruption, resize apps in multi-window to view the most important information clearly, or hold it in a vertical orientation when reviewing documents for improved focus.” Article continues below ADVERTISEMENTThe Android device is incredibly slim at its thinnest point at just 3.9mm but that extra screen means overall it weighs a chunky 309g.Thankfully Samsung still packs in a 200MP main camera, three-cell 5,600mAh battery with 45W charging, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, a customised version of Qualcomm’s high-end 8 Elite chipset also found in this year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7.Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT Subscribe to Tech Newsletter Invalid emailWe use your sign-up to provide content in ways you've consented to and to improve our understanding of you.

When fully folded shut, the outside display of the TriFold is the same 6.5-inch size as on the Fold 7.When folded up the device is 12.9mm thick, which is about 4-5mm thicker than the average smartphone.This doesn’t sound like a lot, but with the weight, this is a chunky device.The payoff, of course, is a portable 10-inch tablet.Along with the 200MP main camera there is a 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP 3x optical zoom telephoto, with a 10MP selfie shooter on the cover screen and the main screen.Samsung releases new 'life unfolds fast' advert Google managed to bring full IP68 dust and water resistance to its Pixel 10 Pro Fold this year, the first foldable with such a rating.
But just like the Z Fold 7, Samsung has only managed IP48 with the Z TriFold, meaning it is susceptible to dust and sand particles.Don’t take this to the beach.Samsung says the phone is launching in South Korea on December 12 when it will be available to purchase, but the firm did not say how much it will cost.Given the Z Fold 7 costs £1,799, expect it to be well north of £2,000 in the equivalent currency.
The device has 16GB storage, with options for either 512GB or 1TB of storage.The phone will come to China, Taiwan, Singapore, the UAE and the US later, but there is no word of UK availability.
