Guided by 4 core pillars, the agnostic convening organization has reached broad alignment on a set of principles for responsibly implementing AI across the entertainment industry – growing list of signatories include Guillermo Del Toro, Domee Shi, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.Generative AI is quickly evolving. The recently established Creators Coalition on AI (CCAI) aims to formulate robust guardrails and shared standards for the tech before it devalues creative labor, erodes public trust in media, and undermines human creativity itself.

The CCAI is an agnostic convening organization that has worked to reach broad alignment on a set of principles for responsibly implementing AI across the entertainment industry and creative communities.Using its collective leverage and expertise, CCAI will be guided by four core pillars: Transparency, Consent, and Compensation for Content and Data: AI companies build their products out of human works and personal data, often without getting permission or offering compensation. To operationalize this, four criteria training models must meet: Consent, Controls, Compensation, and Transparency & Enforcement    Job Protection and Transition Plans: Job loss is inevitable.

Many workers in the traditional media industry have no ownership of the content they helped create.Though societal challenges of automation cannot be singlehandedly solved, a model can be formed for a responsible transition.  Guardrails against Misuse and Deepfakes: The technology used by some as a tool for creativity is being weaponized by others to deceive, defame, and destabilize.  Tech builders must help establish real systems for accountability and safeguards to distinguish authentic content from AI-generated fabrications.

Safeguarding Humanity in the Creative Process: Human craft and creativity must be guarded against the far-reaching damage that automated storytelling and hyperindividualized consumption could inflict on the societal and moral fabric.CCAI signatories include members from the DGA, SAG-AFTRA, WGA, PGA, IATSE, as well as independent artists from beyond the traditional studio system. The growing list includes Guillermo Del Toro, Domee Shi, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller – the most recent update of signatories can be found here.
