Car seats slide forward and back, and on most modern vehicles they remember where the driver programmed them.Those who own a swanky luxury SUV may even have a massage function they can enjoy.Acura's newest concept throws the traditional seating setup out the window.
The front seats in the NEXERA Vision are fixed in place.Permanently.It’s a unique detail almost no other car, be it a concept or production model, can claim.
The Acura NEXERA Vision made its global debut on August 14th at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week.Since the seats don't move, the car adjusts around the driver instead.The pedals and steering wheel shift to meet them, a setup Acura said lowers the seating position and creates a grounded, race-inspired feel behind the wheel.
Although it looks the part, the NEXERA Vision isn't just a one-off design exercise.Acura built it to set the direction for its next generation of production models, starting with the fourth-generation RDX Hybrid.The concept also introduces a new lighting signature Acura calls "phantom lighting," where ultra-thin headlights and taillights stay hidden within the body panels until they're switched on.
Long dash-to-axle ratio An exterior built around movement Close Acura imagined the NEXERA Vision at its Design California studio in Los Angeles under Yasutake Tsuchida, the brand's Creative Director and Vice President of Auto Design.The coupe is finished in a color Acura calls Matte Titanium.The overall design takes into account the dash-to-axle ratio, the distance between the windshield and front wheels.
Acura stretched that distance for the NEXERA Vision, pushing the wheels toward the corners of the car and giving it a long hood reminiscent of classic sports cars.The roofline and body also flow together as one continuous shape, a detail Acura calls a one-motion cabin, rather than breaking the car into visually distinct sections.The doors make arguably the boldest visual statement on the NEXERA Vision.
They use a dual-hinge butterfly design that swings up and out, a style usually found on exotic supercars.It's an unexpected choice for a brand whose lineup outside of the Integra sedan is built entirely around SUVs.Close Behind the 22-inch centerlock wheels are Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, a first for Acura.
The wheels use a 3D directional design with a matte anodized finish and forged carbon fiber inserts.Forged carbon shows up elsewhere on the NEXERA Vision, including the aero-channel fascia, rear diffuser, rocker panels, and inner door structures.As a final touch, an active rear spoiler adjusts to manage airflow across the rear decklid, which Acura said improves stability and braking performance at higher speeds.

The seats use CircuLeather, a material designed to support a more circular lifecycle, alongside Alcantara made with certified post-consumer recycled polyester."The Acura brand is embracing innovative material technologies that bring fresh possibilities to the customer experience while supporting broader environmental ambitions," Tsuchida said."These advancements help reduce the carbon footprint associated with our products and create new opportunities to challenge conventional ideas of quality, inspiring a new perspective on what premium can be." Where to see the Acura NEXERA Vision After its debut at The Quail, the NEXERA Vision heads to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Concept Lawn on August 16th, where concept vehicles from major automakers sit alongside some of the most valuable classic cars in the world.
Acura is using the concept to mark its 40th year.The design language that comprises the NEXERA Vision will shape Acura’s four-model lineup, the Integra sedan and the ADX, RDX, and MDX SUVs, in the years ahead.Around 85% of Acura vehicles sold in the U.S.
