Samsungs next Galaxy flagship could spell the end of the screen protector

The rumours and leaks surrounding Samsung’s next big Unpacked event are hotting up, with the latest whispers pointing to a February launch of the Galaxy S26 series.Tipped to be revealed are the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra, in what could be interactive updates to the S25 line up from 2025.That’s because Samsung has played it relatively safe in recent years, and the Android competition has caught up considerably, surpassing the Galaxy range in some areas.The OnePlus 15 has a stupendous three-day battery life, while Oppo and Xiaomi have, in this reviewer’s opinion, superior cameras to the Galaxy S25 Ultra in the Find X9 Pro and 15 Ultra respectively.

Article continues below ADVERTISEMENTI hope this feature makes it to all models of the S26, not just the Ultra.It could hopefully also be brought to older Samsung phones to add a handy privacy tool to Galaxy devices without the need for a screen protector.Of course, you may still want a screen protector to keep your phone looking pristine.Smartphone manufacturers have not yet found a way to prevent scratches and cracks on fragile glass screens, even if the S25 Ultra had very hardy and top of the line Gorilla Glass Armor 2.

Samsung is leading the way with useful screen tech though, such as the excellent anti-reflective coating found on the S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra that reduces glare considerably.It seems as though Samsung is now turning to software smarts to improve the screen functionality of the next batch of Galaxy S26 phones.We expect a February launch, so keep your eyes peeled.
