5 Public Enemies A gritty, fascinating look at the birth of the FBI A biographical crime drama directed by Michael Mann (), is adapted from Bryan Burrough’s non-fiction book of the same name that details America’s greatest crime wave and the birth of the FBI from 1933-34.The movie chronicles the final years of the infamous bank robber John Dillinger (Johnny Depp), the birth of the FBI, and Dillinger’s relentless pursuit by Agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale). It’s 1933, and the Great Depression grips the country by the throat; the exploits of Tommy gun-toting outlaws have captured the nation’s imagination.

Dubbed “Public Enemies” by crusading FBI director J.Edgar Hoover, bank-robbing rogues John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson, and Pretty Boy Floyd have become Robin Hood figures to the impoverished.Public enemy number one is none other than John Dillinger, who just so happens to be a habitual heist expert transformed into the country’s most notorious bank robber.

In addition to stellar performances with undeniable chemistry and deeply grounded portrayals, the movie features gritty, intense action sequences and revolutionary visuals. It’s raw, chaotic, and loud, and instead of the typical sepia-toned, nostalgic look of most historical period pieces, Mann’s high-definition digital technique allows for a more immersive, in-the-moment documentary feel.Public Enemies r Crime History Drama Release Date July 1, 2009 Where to watch Close WHERE TO WATCH Streaming RENT BUY Cast Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, Marion Cotillard, Jason Clarke, Rory Cochrane, Billy Crudup, Stephen Dorff, Stephen Lang, John Ortiz, Giovanni Ribisi, David Wenham, John Michael Bolger, Bill Camp, Matt Craven, Don Frye, Christian Stolte, Spencer Garrett, Peter Gerety, Shawn Hatosy, Stephen Graham, John Hoogenakker, Branka Katić, Domenick Lombardozzi, Emilie de Ravin, Leelee Sobieski Runtime 140 minutes Director Michael Mann Writers Ann Biderman, Michael Mann, Ronan Bennett Producers Kevin Misher Main Genre Crime Budget $100 million Studio(s) Universal Pictures Distributor(s) Universal Pictures Executive Producer(s) G.

During a routine flight from Singapore to Tokyo, a violent mid-air lightning storm damages the aircraft and forces Captain Brodie Torrance (Butler) to make a risky landing on a war-torn island run by a gang of militiamen. When a group of hostile rebels take most of the passengers hostage, the only person Brodie can count on for help is Louis Gaspare (Colter), an accused murderer who was being transported by the FBI.There’s so much that’s enjoyable about this movie.

Unlike typical unkillable action stars, Butler plays an everyday hero who must rely on his wit and grit, which keeps the story surprisingly grounded. In addition to a clean, fast pace, it also features great chemistry between its lead characters, who form a fun bromance to save the stranded passengers. It also channels the feel of classic 90s action movies where foes are both outgunned and outsmarted.

You will be pleasantly surprised and wholly entertained.Plane R Action Adventure Thriller Release Date January 13, 2023 Where to watch Close WHERE TO WATCH RENT BUY Cast Gerard Butler, Mike Colter, Tony Goldwyn, Yoson An, Evan Dane Taylor, Paul Ben-Victor, Daniella Pineda, Lilly Krug, Kelly Gale, Otis Winston, Ángel Fabián Rivera, Modesto Lacen, Joey Slotnick, Rose Eshay, Ricky Robles Cruz, Jessica Nam, Quinn McPherson, Oliver Trevena, Tara Westwood, Michelle Lee, Amber Rivera, John J.Shim, Claro de los Reyes, Remi Adeleke, Matt Cook Runtime 107 minutes Director Jean-François Richet Writers J.P.

The sequel brings the next generation of the Deetz family into the story and follows adult Lydia (Winona Ryder) and her rebellious daughter, Astrid (’s Jenny Ortega), as they run into trouble with the Netherworld and its premiere ghost with the most. After an unexpected tragedy strikes, three generations of the Deetz family return to Winter River to bury their patriarch.Still haunted by the trickster demon who terrorized her and her family, Lydia’s life is turned upside down when Astrid discovers Adam Maitland's (Alec Baldwin) small-scale model of the town in the attic, then defies her mother by summoning Betelgeuse (Michael Keaton).

In doing so, she opens the portal to the Afterlife. Now that “the Juice is loose,” the bio-exorcist sets out to unleash his own brand of fury. While it doesn’t quite capture the tight, groundbreaking magic of the first film, it does deliver a wildly entertaining, nostalgic, and visually stunning ride that perfectly honors that beloved eccentric Tim Burton aesthetic.
