A new season of the Fred Rogers Productions’ animated series is on the way! Season 3 kicks off January 19 on PBS Kids with a trio of episodes that celebrate Black cowboy culture, creative “crowns,” and quintessential NYC eats.The premiere episode, “Cowboy Howard” / “Junior’s Hair Salon” shines a spotlight on Black cowboys in the Bronx and beyond and introduces young viewers to their cultural significance in American history.
In “Junior’s Hair Salon,” inspired by Manzano’s own time spent at salons growing up in the Bronx, Junior and his friends learn that hair is a form of self-expression, and everyone has different types, textures, and styles.“Best Food Truck in the Bronx” / “Howard’s Hamburgers” premieres January 20.When Alma and her friends go to a food truck festival in the park, they decide to crown one food truck “the Best in the Bronx.” Then, after Alma and Junior’s backyard restaurant loses customers to a competitor, they try everything to win their customers back.
On January 21, “World's Greatest Playdate” / “What Alma Wants” deals with feelings of jealousy and exclusion.Then, when conflicting opinions influence whether or not Alma wants to see a new movie, she has to consult the one person whose opinion she hasn't listened to yet – herself! encourages children as they develop problem-solving, resilience, empathy, and other life skills.The series, which premiered in 2021, is created by Sonia Manzano and produced by Fred Rogers Productions in association with Pipeline Studios ().
