Apple unveils new MacBook laptops with an upgrade it's never offered before

Just as expected, Apple has unveiled a new MacBook Pro range that offers some of the biggest changes in years.Perhaps the most eye-catching upgrade is the screen, which, for the first time on a Mac, gets touchscreen technology. This will allow owners to tap, swipe and scroll just like they would on an iPhone or iPad.

And that's not all; the new models also get Apple's very latest PROLED XDR display, which the company claims is the "world's best" screen in a professional laptop. To help make this panel more useful, Apple says its own apps have been optimised for touch, while many existing applications will work straight away thanks to macOS automatically translating touches into clicks.Of course, most Windows PCs have had this update for a while, but the screen goes far beyond simply adding touch controls.

The new MacBook Pro uses Tandem OLED technology to deliver more consistent brightness and greyscale across the display, while reducing the internal reflections often associated with traditional OLED screens.Article continues below ADVERTISEMENT Tech news, reviews and latest gadgets plus selected offers and competitions I would like to receive emails from the Daily Express featuring our latest products, services, offers, and promotions from across the Reach Plc family.Subscribe Invalid email You agree you are 18 or over.
