Pixel phones are always the first to get the latest Android updates, but it’s not all peaches and cream.Over the years, the Pixel series has had more than its fair share of bugs.I’ve been lucky enough to miss most of these issues, but the latest has hit my Pixel 10 square in the battery.
Recently, there have been several occasions where I grabbed my Pixel 10 off the charger—either wired or wireless—and the battery percentage is not nearly as high as I expected.At first, I chalked it up to misaligned wireless charging or simply underestimating how long I actually had it plugged in.However, this morning, it happened again, and I was pretty confident the battery should have been charged more.
So, I did some quick research, and sure enough, I’m not alone.Just yesterday, the folks at wrote about this very thing, and 57% of their readers reported that Pixel charging speeds have been “slower than ever” after a recent update.Clearly, something is going wrong.
The problem is that fast charging isn’t working, and some people have noticed their Pixel getting hotter than usual.I can also attest to the heat issues with my Pixel 10.The weird thing about this is that Google previously addressed a bug causing slow charging in the March Pixel Drop, though that was specifically about charging speeds when the device was nearly full.

My first thought was that it had to be the stable Android 17 update that rolled out two weeks ago.The early reports predate that release, though, and I never ran the beta builds on my Pixel 10 to notice myself.It seems like the closest release to the first reports was Android 17 QPR1 Beta 3, but there are also reports from people saying it just started happening in the last few days.
