innovationDavid Thomas8th April 2026 Share this story: Tags:autonomycybersecurityphysical devicesSecurityCategories::AI & CloudCybersecurity and systems management company, Tanium, has unveiled important innovations that aim to address the growing demand for AI to streamline and accelerate IT operations and security.Announced at RSAC 2026, Tanium is offering AI advancements in security operations, with tools that boost efficiency for security teams.Gabe Knuth, principal analyst of end-user computing and user protection at Omdia, said: “Tanium is making autonomous IT real at a time when IT and security teams are dealing with more devices, threats, vulnerabilities and signals than they can process manually. The ‘Growing Role of AI in Endpoint Management’ report by Omdia shows half of organisations are already using or piloting autonomous endpoint management, with nearly all the rest planning to.”“What Tanium is doing, bringing security operations, exposure management and endpoint management together on one platform, gives those autonomous abilities the context they need to work,” he said. One of the main innovations is Tanium Guardian, a security and governance tool offering “alerts and remediation actions that use the real-time and autonomous power of the Tanium platform,” according to company releases.
By providing visibility into AI tools running in the endpoint environment, Tanium says that Guardian can strengthen AI governance in real time.Guardian doesn’t just locate more obvious AI apps like ChatGPT, it also detects hidden or downloaded model files on Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoints.Customers wanted rapid investigation and auditing, and that’s exactly what they’re getting, the company says. Its clients can move to a dashboard in just one click to check which devices are affected and where best to investigate.Tanium AI, another new solution, “accelerates decisions and outcomes with trustworthy real-time intelligence and automation.” It offers two new competencies it terms ‘Enrichment’ and ‘Analysis’.
These are available in Tanium Security Operations, and help security teams understand risks better and make quicker decisions.Clients can also take advantage of Tanium Exposure Management, offering abilities to fix issues immediately from where the risks are first seen and ranked. The management software suggests any necessary software updates and then checks the updates against pre-planned workflows.Ultimately, teams can quickly see what’s missing or needs attention most.Anything that makes monitoring and managing systems easier is always a welcome relief for teams often juggling multiple tasks and emerging issues.
Tanium has expanded its endpoint management abilities into operational technology environments to help relieve the bottleneck. They deliver real-time detection and intelligence abilities across previously isolated systems.Through the integration of human-machine interfaces (HMIs) and programmable logic controllers (PLCS), users get a full view across IT and industrial operations. One final solution introduced announced is a Tanium AI Agent for ServiceNow.
Embedded into ServiceNow’s Now Assists, it automates IT incident workflows to analyse real-time endpoint intelligence. It suggests resolutions to the help desk operator.Harman Kaur, senior vice president of technology strategy and AI at Tanium, said: “Tanium is expanding what AI can deliver for security teams – turning real-time endpoint intelligence into governed, actionable outcomes at speed and scale. We are working diligently on additional advances in unifying context, surfacing what matters most and helping organisations close the remediation loop on the growing volume and complexity of vulnerabilities and threats.”Physical AI is fast becoming the new virtual team member, and alongside this technology, Tanium helps ease the burden that’s put on many security teams.Want to learn more about Cloud Computing from industry leaders?
