Samsung is refining its item tracking tag to challenge Apple's AirTag on its home turf.The company has introduced the Galaxy SmartTag 3 with support for both Galaxy phones and iPhone in addition to a few leaps in design and functionality.You can now use the SmartThings Find app on either platform to find the new tag and share its location with others.
You'll lose a few features on an iPhone, including the more precise Compass View, ringing your phone, and left-behind alerts, but you won't have to live in an all-Galaxy household for the new SmartTag to make sense.Close Bluetooth 6.0 also improves the range of Compass View on the Galaxy SmartTag 3 to 197 feet, or roughly triple the range from before.You'll know which direction to take to find your lost bag in the parking lot.
Ultra-wideband (UWB) still takes over for greater accuracy when you get close.The design should be easier to tote around.Samsung says the new tag is both 35 percent smaller by volume and 33 percent lighter, so it's easier to carry on your key chain or slip into a backpack.
