has a few things I really like.The first two are easy—I'm a sucker for quirky sci-fi shows and anything to do with aliens.The third is Alan Tudyk, an actor and voice artist who's made a name for himself in series such as Firefly, but who's probably best known as the voice of K-2SO in R, and Sonny in I had me in the first 10 minutes.
Tudyk plays the titular alien, a being sent to Earth with the mission of ending humankind.But his ship crashes in the wilderness of Colorado, and he's forced to kill and take over the life (and physical form) of Harry Vanderspiegle, a retired doctor living in a remote cabin outside the sleepy town of Patience.When the town's own doctor is murdered, Harry is called upon to help investigate, again forcing him to get to know the humans he's intent on killing.
Tudyk is brilliantly awkward and literal as Harry, who's taught himself how to speak by watching reruns, and tries not to blow his cover.But there's a problem—a young boy in town can see through his disguise.I'm only halfway through the first of its two seasons available on Netflix (there were four seasons in total), and I'm totally hooked.
They're 44 minutes each, making it easy to watch two or three in a session.Two of its four seasons have 100% critics' ratings on RT, with an average of 98 overall.If you like cool, funny sci-fi, give it a go while we hope for seasons three and four to arrive.
