Freeview TVs are getting a channel upgrade that Sky won't currently match AirPods 5 review: Apple's new buds hit all the right notes After months of waiting, Apple has finally unleashed its blockbuster iOS 27 update, bringing a huge range of new features to millions of iPhones across the globe.Major changes in this release include a much smarter Siri assistant, new ways to customise the Liquid Glass effect, better image editing tools and performance improvements.Even much older models such as the iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 should feel faster once iOS 27 is installed.

Once all of the background work is complete, usually within a few days, battery life should settle back towards normal. So, if your iPhone suddenly starts burning through battery after installing iOS 27, don't immediately assume there's something wrong with your device.Give it a little time to settle down.Apple explains that a major update can have a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance because the iPhone needs to complete background tasks such as indexing data and files, downloading new assets and updating apps. The company says this process is normal and should settle once the post-update work has finished.Explaining more, Apple said: "Apple’s hardware and software are designed together to deliver great performance and great battery life."As new features and improvements are added, they can change the way we use our devices, as you explore and utilise these new capabilities."Immediately after completing an update, particularly a major release, you might notice a temporary impact on battery life and thermal performance."This is normal, as your device needs time to complete the setup process in the background, including indexing data and files for search, downloading new assets, and updating apps."So, the advice is clear.

Download iOS 27, enjoy using it and be paitent with your iPhone's battery.
