There are many options for a mini PC, but not all of them have a Nintendo Entertainment System-inspired design.Acemagic wants to fix that with its new Retro X3 mini PC.Acemagic announced the Retro X5 mini PC in late 2025, and later showed it off at CES 2026, complete with an AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chipset and up to 64GB of system memory.
The design is close to a 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System game console, and it's still not available to purchase on the company's North America or Europe storefronts.Perhaps the PC flew too close to the sun and incurred Nintendo's legal wrath.Acemagic has now released another model, the Retro X3.
This model retains the boxy design and beige color scheme of the Retro X5 and Nintendo Entertainment System, but the corners on the bottom panel are no longer angled, and the top panel has a different vent pattern. It's still compact, at just 128.2 × 128.2 × 44 millimeters (5 x 5 x 1.7 inches).Under the hood, the Retro X3 is powered by an AMD Ryzen 7 H 255 processor, with an 8-core CPU and Radeon 780M integrated graphics.
That should give it comparable gaming power to a typical PC handheld or higher-end ultrabook. It also has support for up to 128GB DDR5 RAM, and up to 4TB of storage with the 2280 M.2 slot. For connectivity, you get two USB 3.2 ports on the front, along with a 3.5mm audio jack and a USB4 Type-C port.
The back side has four USB 3.2 Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 2.0, and 2.5G Ethernet LAN.You also get integrated Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6.Acemagic also says the PC has a tool-free expandability, with side release buttons to open the cover.
The storage and RAM is fully upgradable, or you can just add more storage with the USB ports. The PC looks like a great option for a HTPC, or potentially even a low-power server with enough GPU power for media transcoding. The Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 supports H.265 and AV1 for encoding and decoding.
