Prime Day is actually four days, and ends on June 26.I’ve tested each of the current Kindle lineup - the Kindle, Kindle Paperwhite, Kindle Colorsoft, Kindle Scribe and Kindle Scribe Colorsoft - and though the Paperwhite is the sweet spot for design and function, this base Kindle that’s on sale is the e-reader most people need. The only thing it is missing compared to other models is that it is not waterproof. The Kindle is the lightest and most compact version available, with a matte plastic frame and a 6-inch glare-free display that is easy to hold in one hand for long reading sessions compared to heavier, pricier models.Readers will need an Amazon Prime to get access to these deals, but luckily, newcomers can get a free 30-day trial.

The Kindle also has 16GB of storage, which is enough for thousands of books, and a full charge via USB-C can last up to six weeks.Although with constant use, using the front light and staying connected to Wi-Fi will shorten this to a couple of weeks or so.Still, that’s miles better than a smartphone, and the Kindle is designed to be a distraction-free device.People whose passion for reading has been numbed by their phones and social media could benefit from a device such as the Kindle.
However, although it's digital, it cannot run apps or play videos. This is where the rival Android-backed device, Bigme, comes in.The B7 Colour ePaper has a 7-inch screen and comes with a stylus pen for drawing or working on other apps. One thing to note is that this £79.99 Kindle displays ads on the lock screen, which is annoying.
Shoppers can instead choose to purchase the version with no ads, which is in the Prime Day sale for £88.99, down from £104.99.Those who want to get an e-reader but don’t want an Amazon device can opt instead for an alternative brand such as Kobo, whose Kobo Clara BW is £149.99.The rival Kobos are also available to buy across Currys and Argos, but there are no current discounts, making Amazon's Kindle the one to go after if price is the only influence.
